Comedy That Crosses Borders Without Losing Its Bite

For more than ten years, Karthik Lavangu has been shaping a comedy voice that feels both global and deeply personal. Raised in India and now living in New York City as a self-described “resident alien,” he draws from the everyday experience of living between cultures and turns it into sharp, clean comedy with a thoughtful dark(ish) edge. His stories touch on identity, ambition, family expectations, and the small strange moments that come from trying to figure out where you belong in a new place.

Like many immigrants chasing a dream, Karthik lives with the quiet pressure of building a life far from home and the uncertainty that can come with it. Instead of letting that weight slow him down, he keeps showing up on stage and doing the work. He performs regularly at comedy clubs, festivals, corporate events, and underground venues across the country, with appearances at SF Sketchfest, Altercation Comedy Festival, and World Comedy Expo. In New York City, he also produces the shows Holi Cow! and No2, creating spaces for bold original comedy while continuing to push forward toward the life and career he came here to build.
